Careers programme information

All members of staff at the Reach Academy are committed to supporting our students succeed so that they can live lives of choice and opportunity. Below outlines our careers programme:

Year 6:

Cycle 1:

  • Launch Reach Aspire Plan (RAP) and Reach Aspire Record (RAR).
  • Deliver at least one Employer Engagement and Online Careers Skills Development on Bright Futures Ahead Day.

Cycle 2:

  • Take Part in STEM careers based projects during enrichment.
  • Update RAP and RAR.

Cycle 3:

  • Take part in Arts Careers based projects during enrichment.
  • Update RAP and RAR.

Year 7:

Cycle 1:

  • Launch Reach Aspire Plan (RAP) and Reach Aspire Record (RAR).
  • Deliver at least one Employer Engagement and Online Careers Skills Development on Bright Futures Ahead Day.
  • All students visit local university for Widening Participation Day.

Cycle 2:

  • Take part in Arts Careers based projects during enrichment.
  • Update RAP and RAR.

Cycle 3:

  • Take Part in STEM careers based projects during enrichment.
  • Update RAP and RAR.

Year 8:

Cycle 1:

Cycle 2:

  • Take Part in STEM/ARTS careers based projects during enrichment.
  • Update RAP and RAR.
  • All students visit local university for Widening Participation Trip.

Cycle 3:

  • All students to take part in small group workshops with Feltham Futures Coordinator regarding future plans and aspirations.
  • Update RAP and RAR.

Year 9:

Cycle 1:

  • All students meet have meaningful engagements with 3 employers from varying sectors during Bright Futures Ahead Day.
  • All Students Attend Bright Futures Ahead Evening to meet employers, apprenticeship providers, Further Education providers and Universities.
  • All students create profiles on ULAS achievement tracking service.
  • All students complete module on WorkReady careers development system.

Cycle 2:

  • All students take part in small group workshops with Feltham Futures Coordinator regarding GCSE Options and their links to future careers.
  • All students introduced to concept of a CV and how to write one.
  • Some students take part in First Give project.

Cycle 3:

  • All students further supported in making GCSE choices in relation to future Career Pathways.

Year 10:

Cycle 1:

  • All students receive mock interview from external professional on Bright Futures Ahead Day.
  • All Students Attend Bright Futures Ahead Evening to meet employers, apprenticeship providers, Further Education providers and Universities.
  • All students create profiles on ULAS achievement tracking service.
  • Students part of NCOP project attend Widening Participation day at local university.
  • Students at risk of becoming NEET provided with additional support through 1 to 1 sessions.

Cycle 2:

  • Lecture Series for all students to attend weekly lecture on different professional field.
  • All students attend residential at Cambridge University.

Cycle 3:

  • Mentoring for students at risk of becoming NEET.

Year 11:

Cycle 1:

  • All students receive mock interview from external professional on Bright Futures Ahead Day.
  • All Students Attend Bright Futures Ahead Evening to meet employers, apprenticeship providers, Further Education providers and Universities.
  • All students create profiles on ULAS achievement tracking service.
  • All students attend 1 week work experience placement.
  • All students undertake 1:1 destination discussion with coaches.
  • Targeted support for students through Innerscope project.

Cycle 2:

  • 1:1 support delivered for students applying to alternative providers post-16.
  • CV writing workshop for all students.

Cycle 3:

  • Ongoing support for students at risk of becoming NEET.

Year 12:

Cycle 1:

  • All students receive mock interview from external professional on Bright Futures Ahead Day.
  • All Students Attend Bright Futures Ahead Evening to meet employers, apprenticeship providers, Further Education providers and Universities.
  • All students create profiles on ULAS achievement tracking service.
  • Career Ready Programme launched for targeted students.

Cycle 2:

  • All students given support to plan ‘Wider Learning Weeks’ and find appropriate University & Work Experience placements.
  • Career Ready masterclasses and mentoring delivered to targeted students.

Cycle 3:

  • All students undertake Wider Learning weeks to visit universities and prospective employers.
  • Career Ready internships for targeted students.
  • All students begin process of applying to UCAS, Apprenticeships or Employment for post-18.

Year 13:

Cycle 1:

  • All students receive mock interview from external professional on Bright Futures Ahead Day.
  • All Students Attend Bright Futures Ahead Evening to meet employers, apprenticeship providers, Further Education providers and Universities.
  • All students create profiles on ULAS achievement tracking service.
  • All students applying to university complete UCAS applications, 1:1 support given through Feltham Futures Coordinator to design and create personal statements and applications to competitive courses.
  • All students have 1:1 Meetings to confirm destinations for following year.
  • All students not applying to university provided with 1:1 support for creation of CV’s and application forms for future plans.

Cycle 2:

  • Career Ready mentoring continues for targeted students.

Cycle 3:

  • Career Ready mentoring continues for targeted students.
